Integral blinds

For bi folding doors, windows and conservatories

Morley Glass the UK’s No1 manufacturer of Screenline blinds the only viable option for light control in bi-folding and sliding doors.

About Morley Glass & Glazing

Morley Glass & Glazing is a specialist manufacturer of sealed units with integral blinds inside, supplying other sealed unit manufacturers, fabricators and installers with our high-quality Uni-Blinds® in an industry-leading 10-12 days from 10am on a Thursday, backed by a 5-year guarantee.

Quality and Energy Performance

All our sealed units are Argon filled and feature a double seal which helps guarantee the quality and energy performance of your windows and doors, long term. Two seals mean extra protection – giving you peace of mind that you won't have problems in the future. The secondary seal also gives the insulated glass unit (IGU or sealed unit) its structural strength, ensuring there is no chance of movement once installed. This is especially important in larger sealed units used in patio and bi-fold doors.

Versatile Installation

Integral blinds can be fitted inside any window or door in sizes from 300mm to 2600mm wide and in any frame – timber, aluminium or uPVC – and can even be retrofitted into existing doors and windows. They are easy to install – the same way as any other sealed unit.

Ideal for Bi-Folding Doors

They are also the only practical solution for sliding patio doors, French doors and bifold doors, as they don't interfere with the opening mechanism and sit neatly inside the panes of glass.

Benefits and Applications

Adding a stylish finishing touch to your room, integral blinds in glass are perfect for controlling room temperature, maintaining privacy and protecting your furniture from fading. They give you the ultimate in protection from the heat and glare of the sun whilst remaining dust and dirt-free – forever. They are also available in triple glazed sealed units.

Commercial and Healthcare Solutions

In addition to residential uses, Morley Glass offers a range of high quality integral blind solutions that enable architects and designers to take a different approach to shading and privacy in public and commercial environments too. Our range includes integral blinds for the healthcare sector, which perfectly balance a long, low maintenance service life, with hygiene and simplicity in switching between the need for patient monitoring and providing a private space.

Integral blinds give you better control of the temperature of your home, helping you stay cooler in summer and warmer through the winter. Depending on the colour of your blinds and whether they're Venetian or pleated in design, integral blinds can keep out up to 70% of heat in the summer (solar reflection), keep out up to 78% of sunlight (light reflection), and absorb up to 88% of the sun's heat (solar absorption). This creates a more comfortable home environment while improving overall energy efficiency.

Children can easily pull the cords or put their fingers inside traditional Venetian blinds, causing damage or potential injury. Integral blinds are child friendly as they are safely positioned inside the double-glazed unit. Our C System is operated by a continuous cord loop held lightly under tension by a cord tensioner, fully complying with Make it Safe, a campaign from the British Blind and Shutter Association (BBSA) promoting window blind safety in all homes, public buildings, and other environments where babies and young children may be present.

Ideal for homes

Integral blinds are sleek, stylish, and popular with homeowners. They are particularly suited to bi-fold doors, sliding patio doors, and French doors, which are increasingly popular in conservatories, orangeries, kitchen extensions, and house extensions.

Totally hygienic and dirt free

Because they are sealed inside the glazing, integral blinds remain dust and dirt free, making them more hygienic than traditional blinds and other window dressings. Integral blinds are often used in hospitals and schools since they do not require constant cleaning and maintain hygiene. Plus, the SV system is operated using an external magnetic slider treated with the Sanitized® patented antibacterial finish, providing long-lasting protection.

No cleaning and maintenance free

Integral blinds are sealed inside a double glazed sealed unit between the inner pane and outer pane of glass. Unlike conventional blinds, they are not exposed to the elements, dirty fingers, or dust. Being inside the glass means they never need cleaning and are maintenance free, offering a fit-and-forget product.

Easy to install

Sealed units with integral blinds inside are easy to install. They fit all types of frames – aluminium, timber, and uPVC – and are installed the same way as any other sealed glass unit. Even our motorised blinds – the W Swipe and the MB System – are pre-wired and fully tested, ensuring smooth and problem-free installation by any qualified window installer.

The smart way to work

Integral blinds for commercial buildings

We also produce a range of integral blinds for the commercial market. Commercial blinds are ideal for offices, schools, hospitals and other commercial premises. We offer two commercial blind systems.

The B System, which is particularly suitable for window cill applications such as structural facades, hospital wards and schools, as the manual control device is located at the bottom of the blinds for easy access from a low level or seated position.

The P System comprises a Venetian blind incorporating a 12.5mm slat designed to be integrated in a double-glazed unit with a 20mm capacity. The system can be used in almost all types of existing window frames, whilst the special design of the manual operating system allows the aesthetic quality to be maintained in whatever environment it is installed. The P System is ideal for public buildings such as hospitals and government offices, where a variety of people need to operate this simple but highly protected system.

Window blind cords and chains can prove a risk for babies, children and other vulnerable people who could injure or even strangle themselves on the hanging looped cords. The potential problem is eliminated by the use of Uni-Blinds®, as the blind is inside the double-glazed unit, so effectively away from any misuse or danger. In our corded systems we use an external continuous cord loop that is held permanently against the glass, eliminating any chance of the cord hanging in a loose loop which could be dangerous.

Our cords confirm to EN13120 for cord safety and we are a member of the Make it Safe campaign, a campaign from the British Blind and Shutter Association (BBSA) to promote window blind safety in all homes, public buildings and other environments where babies and young children may be present.

Both our integral blind systems for commercial buildings are available for delivery in four weeks.

Energy efficiency built-in

spacer bar

All Uni-Blinds® feature a warm edge spacer bar to ensure the thermal insulation and energy efficiency of the sealed unit is maximised. The stainless-steel spacer bar is co-extruded with polypropylene to enhance the benefits of all ScreenLine® integral blind systems and energy saving qualities, all within the perfect hermetic seal. This design not only improves insulation but also reduces heat transmission through the perimeter, contributing significantly to overall energy performance.

The warm edge spacer bar helps reduce condensation and humidity on the glass perimeter, maintaining clear views and protecting window frames from dampness. Its durable stainless steel and polypropylene construction strengthens the sealed unit, ensuring long-lasting performance and protecting the integral blinds inside.

By lowering heat loss and improving insulation, warm edge spacer bars contribute to better energy efficiency and reduced energy bills. This makes Uni-Blinds® an excellent choice for homeowners seeking style and energy savings, with the added benefit of a reliable, high-quality sealed unit.

Our warm edge spacer bars are fitted in black as standard or light grey on request.

FAQ common questions

What is an integral blind?

Integral blinds are fitted between the two glass panes to make up a double or triple-glazed unit. With a gap between two or three glass panes, integral blinds are sealed within those panes, and they can be opened or closed manually by an electronic operator on the frame. They are made on orders based on width and length and can be fitted into windows, bi-folding doors and conservatories.

Can integral blinds be fitted in existing windows?

Yes, integral blinds can be retrofitted into existing windows and doors by replacing the sealed glass unit with a new sealed glass unit that includes the integral blind.

How long do integral blinds last?

Integral blinds typically last much longer than conventional blinds because they are sealed inside the glass, protected from damage and dirt, often lasting 10 to 20 years with proper care.

Can you have integral blinds in sliding doors?

Yes, integral blinds can fit in sliding doors as they are made to measure according to the length and width of the sliding or french doors. Moreover, integral blinds can work within any door or window with at least a 20mm cavity between the double-glazed sealed glasses.

Can you add integrated blinds to bifolds?

Absolutely, integral blinds can be installed in bifold doors, providing a practical and stylish way to control light and privacy without affecting the door’s mechanism.

What are the best blinds for sliding doors?

Magnetic integral blinds and venetian integral blinds are popular choices for sliding doors because of their smooth operation, durability, and ease of maintenance.

How are integral blinds operated?

Integral blinds are controlled manually using an external magnetic slider or cord loop on the glass surface, and some systems offer remote control or motorised operation for added convenience.

Are integral blinds energy efficient?

Yes, integral blinds provide excellent energy efficiency by reducing heat transmission through the glass panes, especially when combined with argon filled double glazed sealed units and warm edge spacer bars.

What is the cost of integral blinds?

Integral blinds cost more than traditional blinds due to their built-in design, but they offer long-term savings through reduced maintenance and enhanced energy efficiency. Contact our sales team at Morley Glass who will be able to give you accurate prices.

Are integral blinds safe for children?

Yes, integral blinds are child-friendly because they are sealed inside the glass unit, eliminating cords or chains that pose safety risks, making them ideal for homes with young children.
